According to Anglo-Saxon law, in the event of an unnatural death, an inquest takes place, a kind of public preliminary investigation into the cause of death. An unnatural death can turn out to be an accident, suicide or murder (or killing by someone else's hand). Unionist Paul Anders asked the same question as Inquestor: accident, suicide or murder? The death of Ms. Gast is examined under these three aspects, and soon the medical-criminalist question must expand to a socio-political one. Ms. Gast died at the age of 27 four days ago. `` An unnatural death, '' is the coroner's diagnosis, as a result of fatal injuries caused by stray tank shells during a Bundeswehr maneuver. Officially one speaks of an accident. But the man of the dead calls it murder, and for him the tank soldier is the murderer whom he wants to take revenge personally. But Paul Anders tries to prevent this from happening and to make guests understand that the culprits are sitting somewhere else. In West German reality, such an incest could not be carried out as it would be necessary to fully uncover the truth. The real culprits would never face such an investigation. A fictional, as if situation had to be created that made such a confrontation possible: the inquest takes place in the imagination of the inquestor Paul Anders. (Source: Fernsehen der DDR)
